- Mike Winkelmann, the digital artist known as Beeple, made history when his digital artwork sold for $69.3 million in an online auction by Christie's. It was the third-highest auction price achieved for a living artists, after Jeff Koons and David Hockney. The piece was called "Everydays - The First 5000 Days" and was a collage of all the images that Beeple has posted online since 2007. Beeple's collage was minted as an NFT. Link

- The buyer of the Beeple NFT was a crypto investor who goes by the pseudonym of Metakovan. Metakovan's real identity is not known, but he is the founder of the NFT collection called Metapurse, which collects NFTs to display in the metaverse through virtual museums. Metakovan already owns the largest collection of Beeples, which he fractionalized ownership of with a special token called the B20 Coin. Link

- CryptoPunk #7804 was sold Wednesday evening for 4,200 ethereum, approximately $7.5 million, setting a record for the highest amount paid for a punk. The CryptoPunk was initially purchased three years ago for 12 ethereum. Link

- PayPal is acquiring digital asset custody firm Curv for less than $200 million. This is the first crypto acquisition for the payments company. PayPal was said to be in talks to acquire BitGo earlier. Link

- Robinhood says the number of female crypto traders on its platform has surged 7x from the end of 2020. 40% of women active on Robinhood are crypto traders. Link

- Ripple has ended its long-standing partnership with MoneyGram as the cryptocurrency company continues to face issues with the SEC. Link

- Crypto lending startup BlockFi raised a $350 million Series D at a $3 billion valuation led byTiger Global and Bain Capital Ventures. The firm has over 225,000 customers and oversees more than $15 billion of assets with monthly revenues of over $50 million. Link

- Taco Bell released 5 NFTs called 'NFTacoBells' on Rarible; the NFTs sold out in 30 minutes. Link

- Kings of Leon auctioned four 'golden tickets', which gives lifetime front row seats at every Kings of Leon Tour. The 4 seats were sold as NFTs and went for over $440k. The band also sold their new album as an NFT and have sold 4k albums so far at $60 each. Link

- FalconX, the crypto brokerage and trading firm backed by AmEx, has raised $50 million at a valuation of $670 million led by Tiger Global. Link

- CoinShares, Europe's largest crypto asset manager, went public this week. The firm has $4B AUM. Link

- A hacker made off with 3,000 ETH or about $5.7 million from social tokens minted on the Roll platform. The hacker exploited a compromised Roll wallet. WHALE, a social coin backed by NFT assets, confirmed the hack and moved its safe tokens into cold storage. Link

- Illuvium, a decentralized gaming platform that uses NFTs, announced a $5 million round led by Framework Ventures. Illuvium is building an explorable world that features high quality NFT collectible creatures. Link
