THIS WEEK IN CRYPTO

- Bitcoin hit an all-time high this week, trading above $69,000. Investors flocked to bitcoin as an inflation hedge after the DOL released data showing the CPI index picked up 6.2% yoy. Link

- Ethereum also hit an all-time high this week, passing $4,865 for the first time before falling and hovering around $4,600. Link

- Total crypto market cap crossed $3 trillion for the first time. Link

- The website for leading Tezos NFT marketplace Hic et Nunc disappeared without any explanation. The platform launched in March and had 30k unique active wallets, more than double the number of active wallets on the next largest Tezos NFT marketplace, Objkt. Link

- The amount of Ethereum traded daily on OpenSea doubled yesterday, jumping from $48 million to $105 million, driven largely by sales volume of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. Link

- Kingship is a new virtual band (ala Gorillaz) made up of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs owned by collector Jimmy McNelis. The band will be managed by Nick Adler and will work with Universal's "next-gen label" 10:22PM. Link. - Coinbase generated $1.31 billion of net revenue in Q3, down from $2.27 billion in Q2. Trading volume fell from $462 billion to $327 billion, but AUM grew from $180 billion to $255 billion. - Discord CEO Jason Citron tweeted a screenshot that showed an Ethereum wallet connecting to Discord. Shorlty after Citron clarified that this was an internal concept, and the company doesn't currently have plans to integrate crypto. Tweet. Link

- Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said the city would be distributing a "bitcoin yield" from the revenue generated from MiamiCoin. Residents are able to mine MiamiCoin and keep 70% of the coins they mint, with 30% returning to the city. The city has made over $21 million to date from the project, and has plans to stake its payout in bitcoin and give the yield to its residents. Link

- New York City Mayor-elect Eric Adams announced the launch of NYCCoin, making it the second CityCoin to launch after MiamiCoin. CityCoins bring additional revenue to cities through residents' mining of tokens. Link

- Tether launched its USDT stablecoin on the Avalanche blockchain. Link

- The SEC rejected VanEck's latest application for a spot bitcoin ETF. Link

- Crypto payments account for 14% of AMC's online transactions, just two months after it began accepting crypto payments in bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, and bitcoin cash. Link

- Forte, a crypto platform that helps game developers integrate blockchain tech, raised a $725 million Series B round co-led by Sea Capital and Kora Management. Forte currently has 40 game developer partners using its private beta. Forte works with various L1 and L2 blockchains. Link

- Dating and friendship app Bumble is exploring integrating metaverse and Web 3.0 into its revamp of Bumble BFF, according to the company's Q3 earnings call. It also posted a job description for "Head of Crypto and Web3". Link

- Sotheby's upcoming auction of 2 Banksy paintings will accept real-time bids in ETH and will also be livestreamed in Decentraland. Link

- The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) reached a market cap of over $1 billion just a few days after airdropping its governance token to users. The market cap has since fallen to around $800 million. Link. Mkt Cap

- Twitter is actively pushing towards decentralization, and recently set up a team to build dApps for creators to manage virtual goods, currencies, and community engagement. Link. Tweets

- Matter Labs, the project behind Ethereum Layer 2 tech zkSync, raised $50 million in a Series B round led by a16z. V1 of Matter Labs' zkSync tech is live and supports ETH transfers on mainnet. V2 will support EVM-compatible smart contracts and is still under development. Link

- Coinbase Wallet is now available as a standalone browser extension, and will compete directly with wallets like MetaMask. Previously the extension required user confirmation via the Coinbase Wallet mobile app. Link.  

- Alexis Ohanian said his venture fund 776 will be investing $100 million in companies building decentralized social platforms on Solana. Link

- Public.com has added support for 11 cryptocurrencies including Sushiswap, Solana, and Uniswap, just one month after it launched its crypto offering with 10 currencies. Link

- The SEC has halted the token registration of the first Wyoming-based DAO for being securities. American CryptoFed DAO LLC had filed an S-1 with the SEC in September claiming its two digital tokens were utility tokens. Link

- The SEC is investigating Singapore-based Terraform Labs and its Mirror Protocol for allegedly selling unregistered securities. Mirror Protocol offers digital tokens mirroring US-traded stocks. The SEC asked a judge to order the company and CEO to turn over documents, after failed efforts to get the materials voluntarily. Link.
