THIS WEEK IN CRYPTO

- Mila Kunis' Orchard Farm Productions, Big Head Club, 3050 Gang and Stoner Cats released the first ever animated short series via NFTs. The show called Stoner Cats will only be available to watch to its NFT holders. The project sold 10,320 NFTs at 0.35 ETH making over $8 million. The proceeds will be used to complete the first season of the show and begin work on new content. High demand led to a spike in gas prices leading to over $800k in fees lost to out of gas errors. The group is covering the lost fees for users. Link

- CryptoPunks saw a surge in volume this last week hitting 24-hour volumes of over $45 million, with two punks being sold for $5.45 million and $3.76 million (the latter was bought by Gary Vaynerchuk). LinkCryptoslam rankings.

- Shopify is now allowing merchants to sell NFTs directly through their store front instead of having to go to an NFT marketplace. NBA's Chicago Bulls released NFTs of NBA championship rings available for purchase directly on its online store using a credit or debit card. Link.  

- Congress introduced legislation to provide a comprehensive legal framework to regulate digital assets and cryptocurrencies. This includes giving the SEC and CFTC authority over regulating the space and explicitly defining digital assets as "monetary instruments", which would require digital assets to comply with AML and other banking regulations. The legislation would also give the Fed explicit authority to issue a digital version of the US Dollar. Link

- Texas joined Alabama and New Jersey in filing a cease and desist order against crypto lending firm BlockFi, alleging its illegally funding its crypto lending operations and prop trading through the sale of unregistered securities. Link

- There are reports that Dan Loeb's Third Point Ventures is no longer participating in the upcoming BlockFi round that they were reportedly co-leading with Europe-based Hedosphia. BlockFi was raising $500 million at a $4.25 billion pre-money valuation. Link

- GoldenTree, the $45 billion AUM asset manager, has been buying bitcoin. Link

- DeFi aggregator 1Inch is airdropping 10 million 1Inch tokens to its users as part of a gas cost refund program. Link

- The price of FLOW tokens, the platform behind NBA Top Shot, rose 30% after being listed on the world's largest exchange, Binance. Link

- Wealthfront is integrating crypto-related offerings into its $21 billion of robo-advisory offerings starting with Grayscale's bitcoin and ethereum funds. Link

- Dallas Symphony Orchestra launched a three-tiered collection of NFTs on Rarible. The main NFT features a video of the full concern with bids starting at $50,000. The third tier collection includes 25 NFTs priced at $100 each featuring audio of the performance. Proceeds will support MET Orchestra musicians impacted by the pandemic. Link

- AlchemyNFT, a platform that brings utility to NFTs, raised a $6 million SAFT from investors like Crypto.com and Mark Cuban. Alchemy's first product is AutographNFT, a platform that enables anyone to get their NFTs digitally signed by their favorite people. Link

- Bitcoin rewards firm Lolli raised a $10 million Series A in a round led by Acrew Capital. Lolli lets users to shop at over 1,000 retailers and earn 7-30% rewards back in the form of bitcoin. The company's users have earned over $3.5 million in bitcoin rewards to date. Link

- Coca-Cola is releasing NFT "loot boxes" which contain digital wearables designed by digital art creator Tafi. The drop is essentially a digital version of a collectible vending machine, which comes with 3 one-of-a-kind digital assets: a jacket wearable that can be worn in Decentraland; a sound visualizer which captures different audio cues like the pop of a bottle opening; and a digital design inspired by trading cards released by Coca-Cola in the 1940s. Link

- Decentralized video streaming platform Livepeer raised $20 million in its Series B round from investors like DCG, Northzone, and Coinbase Ventures. Livepeer provides a platform for users to transcode videos in a decentralized way at a cheaper cost. Link.
